Maria De Marsico was born in Salerno, Italy, in 1963. She received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 1988. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Sapienza University of Rome. Her main research interests include: Image processing, Multibiometric systems, Human-Computer Interaction. Maria De Marsico is a member of IEEE, ACM and IAPR.


Michele Nappi

Michele Nappi was born in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, in 1965. He received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy, in 1991, the M.Sc. degree in Information and Communication Technology from I.I.A.S.S. "E.R. Caianiello," Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, in 1997. He is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Salerno. His research interests include Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Image Compression and Indexing, Multimedia Databases and Biometrics. Dr. Nappi is a member of IAPR and IEEE.


Hugo Pedro Proença

Hugo Pedro Proença B.Sc. (2001), M.Sc. (2004) and Ph.D. (2007) is an Associate Professor at University of Beira Interior and has been researching mainly about biometrics and visual-surveillance. He is the coordinating editor of the IEEE Biometrics Council Newsletter and the area editor (ocular biometrics) of the IEEE Biometrics Compendium Journal. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Biometrics and served as Guest Editor of special issues of the Pattern Recognition Letters, Image and Vision Computing and Signal, Image and Video Processing journals.


Modesto Castrillón Santana

Modesto Castrillón Santana received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University (ULPGC), in 1992 and 2003 respectively. His research activities focus particularly on the automatic facial analysis problem, but covering also different topics related to image processing, perceptual interaction, human-machine interaction and computer graphics. Currently, he is an associate professor at ULPGC.
